Discover the artist behind Mandy Kness Art
Welcome to my story. Here, you can learn about my journey into art, the influences that shaped me, and how my passion for creativity has evolved. It’s a privilege to share my artistic path with you.

My artistic beginnings
Art has always been a part of my life, deeply rooted in my family history. Growing up, I was constantly surrounded by creativity, especially influenced by my mother and grandmother, who were both artists. Their passion for art truly sparked my own interest and encouraged me to explore my creative side from a young age.

A new chapter in art
At the age of 40, a significant change in my life – developing arthritis and having to leave my previous work – opened a new door. This led me to pursue a BA in Visual Art at Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton). This period was a true turning point, providing the foundation and springboard for developing my skills and refining my artistic voice.

My ongoing journey
My artistic journey is one of continuous learning and exploration, influenced by my rich artistic heritage, the formal training I received, and my move to the Cornish Coast. Each piece I create is a reflection of my experiences and observations and, as such, each piece is different, created in a variety of styles. I am passionate about expressing myself through art and sharing my unique perspective with the world.
I work mainly in mixed media. My contemporary artwork is largely inspired now by the Cornish coast and landscape. The timeless rhythm of coastal life attunes you to the constant dialogue between land and sea - a space defined by perpetual change, delicate ecosystems, and raw untamed power. The colours I use evoke to me the energy of the Cornish coast, captured in mixed media with textures and brushstrokes.
"I came to St Ives in April and bought some art from you.....They're beautiful paintings and I've had so many compliments on them already."
